We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Counselor to join our team. The Academic Counselor will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students regarding academic programs, career paths, and personal development. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of academic requirements and procedures, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Responsibilities:
Provide academic counselling and guidance to students regarding course selection, degree requirements, and academic planning.Assist students in setting academic goals and developing strategies for achieving them.Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate support services for students, including tutoring, workshops, and academic resources.
Assist students in resolving academic issues, such as course scheduling conflicts, academic probation, and academic appeals.
Maintain accurate records of student interactions, academic progress, and counseling sessions.Stay updated on academic policies, procedures, and requirements to provide accurate and current information to students.
Participate in student orientation programs, academic advising sessions, and other campus events as needed.
Contribute to the development and implementation of academic support programs and initiatives to enhance student success.
Qualifications:
Any Bachelor's degree.
Proven experience in academic counseling or advising, preferably in a higher education setting.
Strong understanding of academic advising principles, student development theory, and counseling techniques.
Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and regulations.
Familiarity with student information systems and academic advising software (e.g., Banner, Salesforce, etc.).
Commitment to promoting student success and academic excellence.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
