The Assistant Professor of Mathematics is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate mathematics courses, conducting scholarly research, advising students, and contributing to departmental, institutional, and professional service. The role supports the academic mission of the institution through excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in mathematics (e.g., calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, statistics, abstract algebra, real analysis).

Develop and update course materials, syllabi, assignments, and assessments.

Use effective, inclusive, and innovative teaching methods.

Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.

Mentor and advise students on academic progress and career pathways.
Research and Scholarship

Conduct independent and collaborative research in mathematics or related areas.

Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Present research at conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Seek external research funding and grants, where applicable.
Service

Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.

Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.

Engage in professional service within the discipline (e.g., peer review, professional societies).

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field (completed by the start date).

Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the college/university level.

Evidence of research capability and scholarly productivity.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
