Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Instruction

Teach courses in:

Elementary and Intermediate French (language acquisition)

Advanced French Grammar and Composition

French Conversation and Phonetics

French Literature (e.g., Medieval, 17th–21st Century)

Francophone Literature and Culture

French Civilization and Cultural Studies

Develop and revise course syllabi, assignments, and assessments.

Incorporate technology and innovative pedagogical methods in language instruction.
-
Advise and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students.
-
Supervise independent studies, internships, or research projects (if applicable).
-
Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
2. Research & Scholarship
-
Maintain an active research agenda in French or Francophone studies.
-
Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and/or academic presses.
-
Present research at national and international conferences.
-
Seek external funding or grants where appropriate.
-
Contribute to interdisciplinary research initiatives when possible.
3. Service & Engagement
-
Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

Participate in student recruitment and retention initiatives.
-
Support study abroad programs in French-speaking countries.
-
Engage in community outreach and cultural events promoting French language and culture.

Participate in professional organizations (e.g., MLA, AATF).
Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in French, Francophone Studies, or closely related field (completed by start date).

Demonstrated ability or strong potential for effective language and literature instruction.

Evidence of scholarly research and publication potential.

Native or near-native fluency in French and English.
