Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses in Law, including core and specialized subjects aligned with academic expertise and departmental requirements.

  • Develop, review, and update course content, syllabi, teaching materials, and assessment strategies in accordance with university academic standards and evolving developments in legal education.

  • Employ innovative and research-informed teaching methodologies that promote critical thinking, legal reasoning, analytical skills, ethical awareness, and professional competence among students.

  • Mentor and advise undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students on academic progress, research development, career planning, and professional opportunities.

  • Guide and supervise dissertations, research projects, moot court activities, legal clinics, internships, and other experiential learning initiatives.

  • Provide academic leadership in strengthening teaching quality, curriculum development, and student learning outcomes within the Department of Law.

Research:

  • Develop and lead an active, independent, and internationally/nationally recognized research program in Law or a relevant/allied discipline.

  • Produce high-quality scholarly research and publish research findings in reputed, peer-reviewed, and recognized national and international journals, books, edited volumes, and other scholarly publications.

  • Provide leadership in developing major research projects, interdisciplinary collaborations, research networks, and externally funded research initiatives.

  • Guide and supervise Ph.D. scholars and contribute to the development of a strong doctoral research culture within the department.

  • Mentor faculty members and research scholars in developing research proposals, publications, conference papers, and other scholarly outputs.

  • Present research findings at national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and other academic and professional forums.

  • Seek and secure research grants, fellowships, consultancy opportunities, and other external funding to support scholarly and institutional research activities.

  • Contribute to interdisciplinary research addressing emerging legal, social, economic, technological, policy, and governance issues.

Academic Leadership and Service:

  • Provide academic and intellectual leadership for the Department of Law and contribute to the strategic development of its teaching, research, and scholarly activities.

  • Lead and participate in departmental and university committees, academic governance, curriculum development, examination activities, and institutional decision-making.

  • Contribute to the design, review, and continuous improvement of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral academic programs.

  • Mentor and support junior faculty members in teaching, research, professional development, and academic career progression.

  • Promote a culture of research excellence, academic integrity, professional ethics, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the department.

  • Organize and participate in national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, faculty development programs, guest lectures, and other academic initiatives.

  • Contribute to legal aid, community engagement, professional outreach, policy initiatives, and other activities that enhance the social impact of legal education.

  • Support institutional initiatives related to academic quality, accreditation, diversity, equity, inclusion, and the overall development of the university.

  • Establish and strengthen collaborations with universities, research institutions, courts, law firms, government and regulatory bodies, professional organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Law or in a relevant/allied discipline from a recognized university/institution, in accordance with the prevailing UGC Regulations and applicable institutional requirements.

  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a University/College and/or equivalent experience in a recognized research, academic, legal, or professional institution, as applicable under the prevailing regulations.

  • A strong academic record with demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership.

  • A strong record of quality research publications in reputed, peer-reviewed, and recognized journals, along with other significant scholarly contributions.

  • Evidence of substantial research contributions and academic accomplishments through publications, research projects, conference presentations, grants, academic leadership, or other recognized scholarly activities.

  • Must satisfy the applicable eligibility and appointment requirements prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI) for teaching faculty in legal education.

  • Demonstrated expertise in legal research, scholarly writing, critical legal analysis, and contemporary developments in the relevant field of Law.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, oral, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide academic leadership and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary academic environment.

Preferred:

  • Evidence of guiding Ph.D. scholars and successfully contributing to doctoral research supervision will be preferred.

  • A distinguished record of teaching and research in a specialized area of Law that complements the academic strengths and priorities of the department.

  • Evidence of successful research grants, funded projects, fellowships, consultancy, or other externally supported scholarly activities.

  • Experience in leading research projects, academic programs, research centers, or interdisciplinary initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, academic administration, accreditation, quality assurance, or institutional academic leadership.

  • Experience mentoring junior faculty members and leading departmental or university-level academic initiatives.

  • A strong record of national and international conference participation, keynote presentations, invited lectures, seminars, workshops, and other professional academic engagements.

  • Relevant professional legal experience, bar enrollment, judicial experience, government or regulatory experience, or policy-related work may be considered an advantage.

  • Demonstrated contribution to legal education, access to justice, legal aid, community engagement, professional development, or other initiatives with significant academic or societal impact.
