Key Responsibilities:
Teaching:
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in law, including core and specialized subjects based on academic expertise and departmental requirements.
Develop, review, and update course materials, syllabi, teaching methodologies, and assessments in alignment with university policies, academic standards, and student learning outcomes.
Mentor and advise undergraduate and postgraduate law students on academic progress, research activities, internships, career planning, and professional development.
Supervise dissertations, research projects, moot court activities, legal clinics, internships, and other experiential learning activities.
Provide academic leadership in curriculum development, innovative teaching practices, and the continuous improvement of legal education.
Foster an inclusive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating learning environment that promotes critical thinking, legal reasoning, research skills, professional ethics, and active student participation.
Research:
Develop and maintain an active research agenda in Law or a relevant/allied discipline and contribute significantly to the advancement of legal scholarship.
Publish high-quality research in reputed, peer-reviewed, and recognized national and international journals, books, edited volumes, and other scholarly publications.
Present research findings at national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and academic forums.
Guide and supervise postgraduate and doctoral research, where applicable, and contribute to the development of research scholars.
Develop research collaborations with faculty members, institutions, professional organizations, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
Seek and contribute to externally funded research projects, grants, fellowships, consultancy, and other scholarly initiatives.
Contribute to interdisciplinary research addressing contemporary legal, social, economic, technological, and policy issues.
Service and Academic Leadership:
Participate actively in departmental and university service, including faculty meetings, academic committees, examination duties, curriculum development, and institutional governance.
Contribute to the design, review, and continuous improvement of academic programs and the law curriculum.
Provide academic leadership and mentorship to junior faculty members and contribute to a collaborative departmental environment.
Participate in and organize conferences, seminars, workshops, faculty development programs, moot courts, legal aid activities, and other academic initiatives.
Engage in professional development activities and remain current with developments in legal education, legislation, judicial decisions, legal research, and emerging areas of law.
Support initiatives related to academic quality, accreditation, professional ethics, diversity, equity, inclusion, and institutional development.
Contribute to the university’s research, academic, and community engagement activities through scholarly expertise and professional service.
Qualifications:
Required:
Ph.D. in Law or in a relevant/allied discipline from a recognized university/institution, in accordance with the prevailing UGC Regulations and applicable institutional requirements.
Minimum of 8 years of teaching experience in a University/College or an equivalent level of experience in a recognized research, academic, legal, or professional institution, as applicable under the prevailing regulations.
A strong academic record with demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and academic engagement.
A strong record of research publications in reputed, peer-reviewed, and recognized journals and other scholarly publications.
Demonstrated research contribution and academic accomplishments through publications, conference presentations, research projects, grants, academic leadership, or other recognized scholarly activities.
Must satisfy the applicable eligibility and appointment requirements prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI) for teaching faculty in legal education.
Strong knowledge of legal research, legal writing, critical legal analysis, and contemporary developments in the relevant area of law.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute to academic excellence, professional ethics, and an inclusive academic environment.
Preferred:
A distinguished record of teaching and research in a specialized area of Law that complements the department’s existing academic strengths.
Experience in supervising postgraduate dissertations and doctoral research scholars.
Evidence of successful research grants, funded projects, consultancy, fellowships, or other externally supported academic activities.
Experience in curriculum development, academic program coordination, accreditation, or institutional academic leadership.
Experience organizing or participating in national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, faculty development programs, or professional legal education activities.
Experience in mentoring junior faculty members and contributing to departmental or university-level academic initiatives.
Relevant professional legal experience, bar enrollment, judicial experience, or experience with government, regulatory, policy, or legal institutions may be considered an advantage.
Demonstrated contribution to interdisciplinary research, community engagement, legal aid, or other initiatives that strengthen the social and professional impact of legal education.
