Teaching:
Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in law, which may include constitutional law, contract law, criminal law, civil procedure, legal research and writing, and specialized areas based on expertise (e.g., corporate law, intellectual property law, international law, human rights law, environmental law, etc.).
Develop and update course materials, syllabi, lectures, case studies, and assessments that align with departmental and institutional goals and student learning outcomes.
Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate law students, providing guidance on academic progress, career planning, internships, and professional development.
Supervise student research projects, dissertations, moot court activities, legal clinics, internships, and other experiential learning activities as part of the academic program.
Foster an inclusive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment that promotes legal reasoning, critical analysis, ethical decision-making, and active student participation.
Research:
Develop and maintain an active, independent research program in law, contributing to the advancement of legal scholarship and knowledge in the field.
Conduct scholarly research and publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed law journals, legal publications, and other scholarly outlets.
Present research findings and scholarly work at academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional forums.
Seek external funding opportunities, research grants, fellowships, and other sources of support to advance research activities.
Collaborate with colleagues within the law department and across the university on interdisciplinary research projects addressing contemporary legal, social, economic, and policy issues.
Service:
Participate in departmental and university service, including faculty meetings, committee work, academic governance, and institutional initiatives.
Contribute to the ongoing development, review, and improvement of the law curriculum and academic programs.
Participate in moot courts, legal aid initiatives, law clinics, seminars, conferences, and other academic or professional activities organized by the department or university.
Engage in professional development activities to remain current with developments in legal education, legislation, judicial decisions, legal research, and emerging areas of law.
Serve as a resource for students by providing academic guidance, career advice, and support for professional development.
Support and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, access to justice, professional ethics, and other initiatives that contribute to an inclusive academic environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
LL.M. degree from a recognized university/institution with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade, as applicable under the prevailing UGC Regulations.
Qualified UGC-NET/SET/SLET or possess a Ph.D. in Law, as applicable in accordance with the prevailing UGC Regulations and institutional requirements.
Must satisfy the eligibility requirements prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI) for appointment and teaching in legal education.
Demonstrated knowledge of legal research, legal writing, legal reasoning, and contemporary developments in the relevant area of law.
Evidence of scholarly activity, such as research publications, conference presentations, seminars, workshops, or other academic contributions, as applicable.
Strong written, verbal, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment and contribute to a culture of academic excellence, professional ethics, inclusion, and diversity.
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Law from a recognized university/institution will be preferred.
Candidates with specialization or demonstrated expertise in an area of law that complements the department’s existing academic strengths will be preferred.
Experience in teaching undergraduate or postgraduate law courses.
Experience mentoring students and supervising legal research projects, dissertations, moot court activities, legal clinics, internships, or other experiential learning activities.
A strong record of research publications in reputed, peer-reviewed, or recognized legal journals and presentations at academic conferences and seminars.
Evidence of participation in funded research projects, academic collaborations, professional development, or other scholarly activities.
Relevant professional legal experience, bar enrollment, judicial experience, or experience in legal practice may be considered an advantage, where appropriate to the position.
